Inaugural APP Member Event

In October, the Association of Product Professionals will hold its first-ever Global Member Event. Check the timetable for the event day/time in your time zone.

In UTC time, the inaugural Global Member Event will be held on Wednesday, 20 October 2021 at 21:30 UTC.

In some key local timezones, this global meeting is:

  • SYDNEY: Thursday, 21 October 2021 at 08:30 – 9:30 am AEDT

  • NEW YORK: Wednesday, 20 October at 5:30 – 6:30 pm EDT

  • LONDON: Wednesday, 20 October at 10:30 – 11:30 pm BST

This is not a “meetup”. It is a members-only event to kick off the journey of making our mission come true. This is your opportunity, as an APP member, to have a voice and contribute to the future of product management.

THE MISSION

The Association is on a mission to change the world by helping organisations to understand and believe in product practices so that our profession will have more authority in those organisations and product practitioners will be empowered to do good product work.

The first step in that mission is to align the industry-thought leaders from around the globe on a set of common language and principles. To establish best product practices.

THE FIRST EVENT

To take that first step, as members, we need to convene.

An “Association” is not a handful of people deciding what those best practices should be. Such a significant undertaking required a vast group of professionals with different perspectives, different skill sets, and, different experiences to work together to help shape the future of our profession.

The Association of Product Professionals is open, inclusive, and diverse. We not only welcome all viewpoints, but we also need to hear them.

Together, we will collectively set an annual Product agenda so that we can focus on areas that require more systematic research, analysis and debate. The outcomes of these healthy debates will be instituted as a set of guiding principles and a set of good practices for the entire product profession.

Yes, that is a bold claim. The Association has bold ambitions just like our members do.

THE AGENDA

Items on our annual agenda are:

  1. Table the needs of our Membership;

  2. Authorise a set of decision-making rules for the Association;

  3. Establish Product Councils that will each focus on one specific part of the product management problem space;

  4. Build awareness and support in the global product community and inside the organisations we work inside.

  5. Begin the work of alignment.

We look forward to bringing our community together for our inaugural meeting. We want to hear your voice.

All members will receive an invitation email with a link to register to attend the meeting.

For those who need more convincing to join: we need all voices of product people to help us propel product management. We do not want to, nor can we, do this alone.

We encourage people who are uncertain that an Association can represent all product people, people with cynicism about our mission or concerns that an Association might become elitist, and people ambivalent about the need for alignment to share your concerns. By joining you get a voice that can help ensure the Association becomes what it is intended to be, and, not something else.

If we agree on the problem, let’s find the answers together on how to best solve it.

It will take all of us, banding together, to ALIGN, PROMOTE, ASSESS, ADVOCATE, and UPLIFT the product profession.

Join us.
